Earlier this week, a man named Mohammed Jaffar was arrested in the Taylor Swift’s New York City building for stalking, trespassing and burglary.
It appears that Jaffar took his Swift enthusiasm a bit too far. The 29 year-old was arrested after allegedly stalking Taylor Swift over a number of months in New York City.
The news of the arrest came as Taylor continues to live a more private life in 2017.
Jaffar was caught after spending three months skulking around the singer’s Tribeca condo building. Apparently, he first pursued Taylor in December and asked for a meeting but was declined.
After being rebuffed, he went back to the swanky residence, which is also home to the likes of award-winning director Steven Soderbergh and Orlando Bloom. The stalker returned four more times in the next couple of months with his last visit being on February 15.
In fact, Jaffar made it inside the building once in February. He actually lingered around Taylor’s door. One night, he was purportedly captured on surveillance footage going into the building. He was seen outside Taylor’s apartment door.
Moreover, he spent four hours on the roof during the said incident. On a different occasion, he devoted an entire hour ringing the star’s buzzer.
Finally, the intruder was arrested on March 6 on stalking and burglary charges. He is being held on $20,000 bond. Additionally, Jaffar is prohibited from seeking contact with the singer-songwriter.
His alleged wish to come face-to-face with the Grammy winner won’t be happening soon. The judge signed off on an order of protection against him.
Certainly, this is not the first time the leggy performer has had to deal with an obsessive supporter. Jaffar is hardly Taylor’s first overzealous follower. She has been contending with multiple stalkers since her stardom began.
In 2014, Taylor secured a restraining order against a man named Timothy Sweet. Apparently, the man was delusional. He believed he was married to the superstar and that they were living together in Beverly Hills.
Previously, Sweet wrote vehemently on social media, “Dearest Taylor, I’ll kill any man who gets in the way of our marriage. Message to John Kerry, Secretary of State. Message from YOUR Presidential Candidate.”
Another recent die-hard follower named Frank Andrew Hoover followed the celebrity’s convoy after a November 2016 concert in Austin, Texas.
At least, Taylor may be feeling a bit safer for now after this latest arrest.
