Anne Hathaway is about to celebrate her first year of motherhood. Only a few weeks before her son’s first birthday, she has shared the first photo of adorable Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman.
The award-winning actress took a photo of her cute son from the back as he propped himself up on an ottoman in front of a screen. Plainly, Anne’s baby boy was watching a video of his famous mom speaking at the United Nations in support of paid parental leave.
Fortunately, the 34 year-old singer-actress shared the rare shot on Instagram. She posted it a day after delivering a heartfelt speech at the UN for International Women’s Day.
She captioned the pic, “JRS watching Mommy give her speech at the UN yesterday #forourboys #forourgirls #forthefuture #loveislove #parentsareparents #paidparental #iwd #ppl @unwomen.”
Indeed, every new mother feels a rollercoaster ride of emotions with a new baby. Nonetheless, Anne’s experience has been going so well that she wishes to do it yet again. “Anne wants more kids. She wanted to wait until Jonathan was a little older before they started trying again. She wants Jonathan to have a sibling,” a source revealed.
But putting a second pregnancy on the Oscar winner’s schedule is vague for now considering her long list of projects.
For the meantime, Anne and husband, Adam Shulman, can look forward to celebrating their son’s first birthday on March 24. The source also shared, “Everything with Adam and her are wonderful. They have a really happy marriage.”
Taking a short break from taking care of her son, the Hollywood princess visited the UN on Wednesday. She went there to speak about the significance of paid parental leave. Anne explained how women are “economically punished” for wanting to have children as a result of destructive gender roles.
In her UN speech, the celebrity parent mentioned the struggle many far less well-off American families tackle after pregnancy due to the US’s Family and Medical Leave Act. The Act gives new parents a 12-week period of unpaid maternity leave.
“Somehow, we and every American parent were expected to be back to normal in under three months without income,” Anne exclaimed. “I remember thinking to myself, ‘If the practical reality of pregnancy is another mouth to feed in your home and America is a country where most people are living paycheck to paycheck, how does 12 weeks of unpaid leave economically work?’ The truth is for too many people it doesn’t,” she continued.
The actress further explained, “The deeper into the issue of paid parental leave I go, the clearer I see the connection between persisting barriers to women’s full equality and empowerment, and the need to redefine and in some cases, destigmatize men’s role as caregivers. In other words, to liberate women, we need to liberate men.”
Also, the celebrity mom will star in Ocean’s 8 with an all-female cast of A-listers. She even put on a red dress by Hanako Maeda to show unity with the Women’s Strike.
But when she’s not delivering a superb speech at the UN or shooting for a big movie, Anne is reveling in every day life at home in LA with her husband of more than four years, their son and their dogs.
The Ocean’s Eight star and her husband welcomed their first baby together in 2016. Their engagement happened in November 2011. And in September 2012, they tied the knot at Big Sur, California.
